Our Story
Dr. Susan M. Baker's connection to Southern Utah began long before Canyon Crossing Dental opened its doors. After vacationing in the St. George area for more than a decade, she fell in love with the community and made the life-changing decision to relocate from Maryland in 2006. She sold her successful 18-year dental practice in the Washington, D.C. area and began a new chapter in St. George.
She founded Snow Canyon Dental, where she spent years building meaningful relationships with patients through honest care, clinical excellence, and personalized treatment. After a time away to care for her parents in New York, Dr. Baker knew Southern Utah was where she truly belonged. She returned to continue serving the community she loves by opening Canyon Crossing Dental—a practice that reflects her vision of modern dentistry delivered with warmth, integrity, and compassion.
Meet Dr. Susan M. Baker, DDS
Dr. Susan M. Baker, DDS, has been practicing dentistry for over 30 years. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY, where her father was also a well-known dentist. She has always been driven by a passion for learning, creativity, and helping others. As a student, she earned awards for her artwork while competing on her high school's Varsity Track and Cross Country teams, experiences that helped shape the discipline and attention to detail she brings to dentistry today.
Dr. Baker earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from Syracuse University, where she also rowed on the Women's Varsity Crew Team. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry before completing an advanced General Practice Residency at the VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C., gaining extensive experience in comprehensive dental care.
Following her residency, Dr. Baker owned and operated a successful Cosmetic and Implant Restoration practice in Rockville, Maryland, for nearly 20 years. Her commitment to exceptional dentistry earned her recognition as one of Washington's Top Dentists, placing her among the top 3% of dentists in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia, as voted by her peers.
Today, with more than 33 years of experience, Dr. Baker continues to enjoy helping patients improve their oral health while building genuine, lasting relationships. She believes every patient deserves personalized care, honest guidance, and a dental team that treats them like family.
