The beauty of professional teeth whitening

Teeth whitening treatment that is planned, administered, and monitored by dental professionals such as Dr. Susan Baker makes a world of difference. Since the whitening process is a partnership between you and your dentist, every aspect of treatment is well-monitored and expertly tailored to ensure the utmost safety, comfort, and natural-looking and attractive results.

First, Dr. Baker examines your teeth, gums, and mouth. She will evaluate your oral health. Any conditions such as tooth decay and gum disease must be resolved prior to moving forward with whitening (or any other cosmetic treatment, for that matter). It is also important to note that existing crowns and other dental restorations do not whiten. We will account for these restorations when developing your unique treatment plan.

If it is determined that professional whitening is appropriate for you, we will explore viable options with you. Generally, patients may choose from one of two bleaching methods:

  • In-office treatment – This option is perfectly suited to patients who desire instant results. It is ideal to whiten right before a “big day,” such as a wedding or job interview. Dr. Baker applies a concentrated whitening gel to your teeth. The gel is derived from ingredients that are proven to break up and remove stains. Safeguards are taken to ensure the gel is applied precisely and uniformly. That way, it does not irritate surrounding tissues and gets the desired level of whitening. All it takes is one appointment to get considerably whiter teeth!
  • At-home whitening – Some patients may be better suited (or prefer) gradual teeth whitening from the convenience and comfort of home. For this method, we make whitening trays designed to fit your mouth perfectly. We’ll show you how to fill the trays with whitening gels. We’ll also provide customized instructions on how to wear the trays. When worn each day as directed by us, the trays effectively transfer the gels to the teeth. You will notice increasingly whiter teeth!
